Recently on the news there has been so many crimes. Not just the commonly heard of crimes either, they are some of the most twisted, horrific things that I have ever heard of. One example is a man burying his fiancee alive and putting her in a box. The ironic thing is that the way she got out was her engagement ring. I just wonder how anyone can bring them self to do anything like that! There was a man who stabbed his whole family and hid their bodies in a car...why? How could he do something like that?
There has been many other incidences and I feel so angry that there has been significantly more and significantly more terrifying things happening as the year comes to an end. I realise that I do not know these people, what is going on in their lives and their personal health but surely there should be that universal basis of human conscious. Surely we all have a limit? These stories I hear tell me that we don't. It scares me that some have the ability to bring themselves to do such things.
This is the festive season which is all about love, friends and family and of course, the Christian faith so why is it that there has been such a big rise in crime? Even if this wasn't the festive season, I would still be as frustrated. I wish people wouldn't fill their lives doing such things that cause such devastation and fear. Every one should fill it with happiness and love instead. How can anyone not choose that?
However, I realise that this is just what happens in our world so I will spread as much love and cheer as I possibly can to as many people as I can.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!

A rise in crime? In terms of violent and sexual crime there has been a reduction, I'll include the statistics

I think what you might be noticing is the increase in the reporting of crime. Sadly the occurrence of crime, and other atrocious happenings that are essentially crimes but too grand in scale to be called that, don't tie in holistically with what passes as News. The level of these sort of acts stays roughly about the same internationally with large spikes in times of war. The blitz in London saw a 75% rise in crime rates with people posing as air raid wardens giving them a free pass to steal as they pleased.
As for the somewhat insane crimes you have pointed out; I suspect that there is a monster inside everyone, some buried deeper than others perhaps but still there. A product of abstract thought. There is after all no other animal with the capacity for cruelty that we have (I think cats come in second though). The question is at what point does a sane man become insane enough to do this things.
I'll end the comment going back to the second world war in Lithuania. As the Nazis were moving across the country destroying towns for harboring Jews and other "offenses", the towns and villages still someway off started to act in quite an unexpected way. There are accounts of families where Jewish spouses were hacked apart by their partners then the children would be cut in two as they were half Jewish. There is even worse than that involving pregnant women but it's very graphic and quite disturbing. The moral is that people are truly terrifying under the right conditions.
I said that would end the comment at the last paragraph but I now feel I must apologise for this being such a morbid block of text.
Anyways Merry Christmas o_O
Thanks for your comment! I suppose recently I have been increasingly interested in world issues and what goes on in our society. I just felt really let down and some of the recent stories I heard. However, I must accept that it's the way of our world and it's a cruel world but also a beautiful one.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you too and a Happy New Year! :)
